Synopsis
In het dagelijks leven in Europa is het dragen van een hoofddoek een item van felle discussies en zelfs verbod.
In België werd onlangs een Moslima gearresteerd omdat ze een burka droeg. Het incident heeft geleid tot escalerend geweld. Waar zijn Europese politici mee bezig?
Terwijl zij over wetten blunderen, maken wij een film. Een tragikomedie waar we -met een glimlach- een waarheid proberen te vertellen. Dit is een verhaal, stijlvol verteld, met een trio van verschillende 'film-instrumenten'.
Alia (28) en Hamza (32) vormen een verliefd Marokkaans stel. Geconfronteerd met een omstreden wet tegen het dragen van hoofddoeken, vindt Alia, gesteund door haar man en collega’s, een grappige en onverwachte oplossing om de wet te omzeilen.

Her films have won major awards at film festivals around the world, including the Golden Gate Award at the San Francisco Film Festival, the Golden Pigeon at the Leipiz Film Festival, the Grand Prix at the Cinema du Réel in Paris, the Jury Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival, the Dutch Film Critics Award (twice!), and the J. Van Praag Award from The Humanist Association, which recognized her entire body of work, in which "important universal themes such as survival are developed in a unique filmic form."
